Stars on Canvas, the online charity art auction which featured one-off artwork by hundreds of artists, sports personalities and celebrities has raised an amazing £51,000.
The top selling canvas was the London 2012 superstar, Mo Farah, which sold for £2,350, closely followed by leading UK artists; Richard Long & Albert Irvin and top photograher, Rankin.
Also featuring in the top ten canvases were several popular cartoon characters, SpongeBob, Bagpuss & Noggin the Nog along with actor Reece Shearsmith, Status Quo's Francis Rossi, cartoonists, Nicola Jennings and Gerard Scarfe and footballer, Wayne Rooney.
But it's not about the top ten, the total amount raised was thanks to each and every one of the contributing artists and celebrities who took the time out to support Willow.
Alongside the online auction, the Stars on Canvas collection was on show for a three day public exhibition at Maddox Arts in London's West End. The official launch was attended by sponsors, press artists, celebrities including award winning actor and keen artists John Hurt CBE and Reece Shearsmith, amongst others.
This is the third Stars on Canvas to be held by the Willow Foundation, in partnership with Brighton artist, Julieanne Gilburt. The success of Stars on Canvas 2012 has brought the overall total raised online to more than £150,000. These funds are invaluable to the Willow Foundation which relies wholly on donations to fund its work, making a real and positive difference to the lives of seriously ill young adults.
