Born in Brighton in 1964, Andy Hill graduated witha a degree in graphic design and began his career working as a freelance illustrator in London.
After moving to the Wealden countryside in the 90's, he focused his creative energies on painting, making a transition from landscape to abstraction. He has continued to live and paint there ever since.
Andy's paintings have evolved out of intimate observation and an empathetic identification with his natural enviroment. Voluptous textures and thick poursd of paint mingle with atmospheric stains of colour.
He says "I paint out of an urge to express otherwise inexpressible things and am concerned less with capturing something than with setting something free"
